A Man from Nevada is an ongoing project exploring gender identity using American Western iconography and light projection. The title is inspired by Jenny Holzer’s plaque which reads, “MAN FROM A REMOTE AREA HAD HIS SECOND HEAD REMOVED AND EXPRESSED HOPES OF RETURNING HOME AND MARRYING”. The imagery is of Mark Maggiori’s extensive collection of Western paintings.

The dress is the one my mother wore on her wedding day.

This part of project uses a drawing tablet that is connected to the projector. The goal is to document myself as I try to erase myself from the image and how this translates to the image itself after I am gone.
