Is Your House in O.R.D.E.R? is a pseudo-fictional exhibition which manifests as a curated installation of found objects. The work mimics a museum space, with white plinths, catalogues, didactic panels and a stage elevating a complex diorama of a desk space. Each component performs a narrative function: a TV with its cable cut clean still plays a text conversation, audio components for the work seem to cut out and overlap with strange radio chatter, and overt fictions seems to clash with irrefutable truth. Is Your House in O.R.D.E.R? appropriates modes of museological display to violate the audience’s receptive processes and make them susceptible to the subversive intent of the artwork. By infiltrating a space that so widely performs authenticity, the narrative is elevated into a fluctuating state of truth – evidence and fiction that work in tandem to present a phenomenon which is both suspect in its truth and irrefutable in its fantasy.
